Cine Me

My Week with Marilyn

It deal with the work with Sir Laurence Oliviers movie the Prince and The Showgirl in the pinewoods studios in london in 1957. Marilyn, who is signed for the job as his co-star, arrives to London and the expectations are sky-high.

The movie is based on a book written by Colin Clark, who was assigned to work as Sir Laurence assistant during the shoot. Through the eyes of coling we get to see how Sir Laurence is struggeling with accepting Marilyn (and him self) and Marilyn struggle with her fame, her beauty and her ambition and desire to be a great actress.

Michelle Williams is Marilyn Monre, i mean it. She makes the role of her life so far, she is amazing! Even if the movie takes place in a very short time of her life, and perhaps not the most interesting part, you get a good insight of how it must have been to be Marilyn Monroe and how her life must have been. How lonely she was and her anguish not to be good enough and how it must have been to live in a myth created by someone else about you and your life.

Eddie Redmayne as Colin Clark and Judi Dench as dame Sybil Thorndike. Kenneth Branagh as Sir Laurence Olivier and my favourite Emma Watson as Lucy.

A very good movie, perhaps a little bit too short for my taste, but still very good. please, go and watch this movie!
