Martha Marcy May Marlene

"There's no such thing as dead or alive; we just exist."

The genius of this film is in the story telling. The cinematic toggling between today and moments of time at the cult farm house leads the viewer right into the confused mind of Martha. We don't get much back story but it's obvious she was "ripe" for cult world when she was chosen. We see how Patrick, the quietly charismatic leader, sings her a song and steals her heart ... she wants so much to belong. We also see how she bonds with the other women at the farm house, and ends up in a situation that seems to snap her out just enough so she finds the strength to leave. The editing of scenes between these two worlds in outstanding and serve to keep the viewer glued to the screen.

There will undoubtedly be some debate about whether this is cutting edge independent filmmaking or just another snooty art-house mind-messer. All I can say is, I hope the film grabs enough audience for the debate to matter ... it deserves it.

Carnage

A portrait of "sensitivities" that dominate-or seem to dominate, seen from afar and through the "media"-contemporary America.

P.S- Um cenário, quatro óptimos artistas mais um enredo afiado fazem de "Deus da Carnificina" um filme que precisa ser visto pelos amantes da sétima arte. Recomendo!

The Descendants

This isn't a movie you can just grab the kids and some popcorn and be lightly entertained, but it's also not a Think Hard movie. It's somewhere in the middle - again, much like life. Payne and cowriters Nat Faxon and Jim Rash allow us to become psychologically engaged with everything concerning Matt and his family. We're with him so much that when he makes a blunder, we think to ourselves that we'd probably make the same blunder. It's a pleasure to see a movie in which the protagonist clearly doesn't have all of the answers, even to the easy questions, but has some answers to the hard ones.

My Week with Marilyn

It deal with the work with Sir Laurence Oliviers movie the Prince and The Showgirl in the pinewoods studios in london in 1957. Marilyn, who is signed for the job as his co-star, arrives to London and the expectations are sky-high.

The movie is based on a book written by Colin Clark, who was assigned to work as Sir Laurence assistant during the shoot. Through the eyes of coling we get to see how Sir Laurence is struggeling with accepting Marilyn (and him self) and Marilyn struggle with her fame, her beauty and her ambition and desire to be a great actress.

Michelle Williams is Marilyn Monre, i mean it. She makes the role of her life so far, she is amazing! Even if the movie takes place in a very short time of her life, and perhaps not the most interesting part, you get a good insight of how it must have been to be Marilyn Monroe and how her life must have been. How lonely she was and her anguish not to be good enough and how it must have been to live in a myth created by someone else about you and your life.

Eddie Redmayne as Colin Clark and Judi Dench as dame Sybil Thorndike. Kenneth Branagh as Sir Laurence Olivier and my favourite Emma Watson as Lucy.

A very good movie, perhaps a little bit too short for my taste, but still very good. please, go and watch this movie!

This photo is so beautiful to me. Like a dream.

P.S- Lust is an emotional force that is directly associated with the thinking or fantasizing about one's desire

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I'm a fan of Millennium trilogy just before the movie. I didn't see the Swedish version, no sir. But I really liked this David Fincher. The color, image, difficult digestion, fidelity to the book. Little Hollywood style.
Very good. Worth it. Go and see.

P.S - And these opening credits? Fabulous :
